Today, the SpaceConnect Association issued the following statement on the FCC’s vote on Supplemental Coverage from Space (SCS) and direct-to-device (D2D) services, attributable to Executive Director David Redl:

“Direct-to-device technology has enormous potential to connect people every day across the globe, particularly where traditional wireless networks don’t reach. SpaceConnect welcomes the FCC’s efforts to make more spectrum available for these services and modernize rules to keep pace with new technology. 

We look forward to working with the FCC to make D2D services more widely available while encouraging innovation and competition.”
