Who We Are

SpaceConnect is the leading global trade association representing non-geostationary satellites (NGSOs) — also known as low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

We bring together a diverse group of business entities engaged in the communications satellites industry, including NGSO operators and businesses that support them – such as satellite connectivity service, satellite manufacturers and suppliers, launch providers and space situational awareness operations.

Together we share this conviction: space-based connectivity is too important to depend on a single provider. The future of satellite communications must be competitive, resilient and built to serve the full range of global needs.

Direct-to-device connectivity, lower-cost terminals, and faster deployment don't happen by accident — they happen when providers compete to win customers and contracts. Leadership

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
David Redl
As Executive Director, David serves as our principal advocate before Congress and the agencies and oversees day-to-day association operations. He brings deep experience in both the legislative and executive branches of the U.S. government in the telecommunications, media and technology fields.

David previously served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and the Administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and as Chief Counsel for Communications and Technology to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. He also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Silicon Flatirons Center at the University of Colorado.
GENERAL COUNSEL
Julie Kearney
Julie Kearney is a globally recognized lawyer in the technology, satellite, space and telecommunications field. For more than 25 years, Julie has worked with governments and industries around the world to promote legal and regulatory frameworks and policies that enable life-changing technologies.

She previously served as the first Chief of the Space Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), where she represented and spoke for the chairwoman and commissioners on satellite and space-based communication matters, and represented the Commission at the domestic and international level.
